What is Safer Internet Day?

Safer Internet Day is a highly collaborative awareness campaign that promotes and celebrates safe, responsible use of connected technology, especially among young people. Safer Internet Day started in Europe over a decade ago and is now celebrated in more than 100 countries. Safer Internet Day gained official recognition in the U.S. in late 2012, with a joint agreement between the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the European Commission to work together to build a better Internet for youth. ConnectSafely was appointed the U.S. host in 2012.
